Peon - BETA

Posted by ffgameplayer - September 2nd, 2008

Hi All,

The time has finally come (a month later than expected!). I have gotten my latest game 'PEON' into Beta stage. The game is loosely based on the old Golden Axe Sega game that I was once addicted to.

The game is based on a story of an Orc sold into slavery, his escape and ultimate revenge. The game hosts 11 levels, multiple weapons and items, many different bad guys, unique special attacks for each weapon.

Actions include, walking, running, jump, run-jump, ram, jump attack, basic attack, kick and special attack.

I am looking for testers to play and constructively critique the game so if anyone is interested please PM me or message on this page so I can PM you. I am looking for around 20 people.

Finally this pic attached is of the PEON (the little guys) and the big boss Orgak (who is a tank!).

Cheers

Adam

Id love to BETA Test too :]
I love you <3 :D

I PM'd you too. So much love in the room!

kinda like a swords and sandals with orc eh?

What really gets me about this screenshot is the amount of numbers on the HUD.
I can understand that money and time are presented as numbers, because they probably don't have a limit, and the individual numbers are important.
Presenting Attack and Defense to the player is different though, because there's not gonna be much of a difference between having 21 attack or having 22. What's bad about using numbers is that they don't give you any information on the scale- Like what's a high number and what's a low number. Also, it takes a second for the player to read and register numbers to work out wether they're doing good or bad. It distracts people from the game.

That's why I think, for the sake of people who are totally put off by classic RPGs, you should present statistics like this as a graphic; like a bar, or maybe blocks that go up in increments of 10s. It's why they invented Graphics interfaces, and it makes games more, for lack of a better word: Intuitive.

BOY DID I GET CARRIED AWAY WITH THAT ONE! I'll make this next point quick:
MAKE THE ORGAK'S HEALTH BAR STAND OUT MORE. TRY MAKIN THE OUTLINE WHITE? I DUNNO.

i'd like to beta test for u.

Peon, as in, Warcraft peon?

Really great game.
Keep up the good work!
I would also like to beta test for your future games.
